On September 20, 2024, the Callejo-Botello Foundation proudly hosted its inaugural Changemakers Luncheon, bringing together community leaders, advocates, and supporters.
Laura Torres is a proud member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and held the honor of serving as the Luncheon Chair.
The event was a tremendous success, and the funds raised will fuel several key initiatives, including:
- Scholarship Programs: Supporting Latino students on their path to higher education by providing financial aid and mentorship.
- Civic Engagement: Promoting voter registration and active participation in the community.
- Leadership Development: Empowering the next generation of Latino leaders across various fields locally.
The program featured an insightful panel discussion moderated by Rebecca Acuña from AT&T, with remarks from distinguished public officials, inspiring attendees to make a difference.
This special luncheon also celebrated the lasting legacy of Adelfa Callejo and the transformative work of the Callejo-Botello Foundation, including their exciting new leadership program.
Founded in 1979, the Callejo-Botello Foundation honors the trailblazing work of Adelfa Callejo, the first Latina attorney in Dallas, whose passion for justice and education continues to inspire. Today, the Foundation’s board of passionate leaders carries her mission forward by championing educational opportunities, legal representation, and civic engagement for the Latino community.
